The new collaboration will provide veterans with IT and cybersecurity skills training and help transition military personnel to civilian careers, either principally in IT or in cybersecurity
Boston, MA — October 16, 2019 – Continuum®, the Platform for What’s Next, announced today a new collaboration between the Continuum Veterans Foundation (CVF) and Fortinet’s FortiVet program. The joint effort will aim to help even more veterans gain the skills they need to transition to valuable and much needed civilian careers in the tech industry.
The combined goal is to ensure that veterans understand how the skills they developed during their military tenure relate to civilian needs. Together, Fortinet and Continuum will work to augment those skills with specific technical training, certifications, mentorship and coaching that will increase their employment opportunities.
“The Continuum Veterans Foundation was founded upon a mission to help our veterans find sought-after jobs in the IT industry. With cybersecurity being the new battleground for businesses, the skills and disciplines that we see in our veteran community are well aligned with the crucial skills organizations need to protect themselves from cyber threats,” said Michael George, CEO of Continuum. “Our joint effort with Fortinet will give veterans the resources they need for a successful career in the cybersecurity industry, and we’re proud to join FortiVet’s employer partner ecosystem to tackle this skills gap challenge together.”
The mission of the FortiVet program, which is part of Fortinet’s Network Security Expert (NSE) Institute, is to help close the cybersecurity skills gap. This is done through talent creation and by facilitating the transition of exceptional military veterans and their spouses into internships or employment in the cybersecurity industry. These positions may be available at Continuum, Fortinet, or one of FortiVet’s many employer partners.
“Fortinet welcomes Continuum to our ecosystem of partners looking to hire participants and graduates from our FortiVet program. We are excited to collaborate with the CVF to provide comprehensive cybersecurity training, certifications and career preparation to military personnel as they transition to civilian careers,” highlighted Sandra Wheatley, SVP of marketing programs and corporate communications at Fortinet.
