With STEM on a slow, linear decline in the U.S., the shortage of qualified labor has been challenging for MSPs. According to a recent study conducted by IT staffing firm TEKsystems, 78 percent of IT managers and 80 percent of IT pros experience difficulty finding qualified candidates, resulting in a longer hiring and onboarding process. With a career that spans more than three decades in the IT media business, Gary Beach discusses how to close the IT skills gap. Along with Peter Melby, Gary discusses what technical skills are most in demand, what “soft” skills are needed and tips on identifying and growing IT talent. Peter Melby specifically shares tactics that have worked at his company.
“Employee turnover tends to be high for MSPs, and in order to increase productivity and profitability, they need to understand how to engage staff and guide employees in their professional development,” said Gary Beach. “Employers should understand how to effectively find, engage, grow and retain IT talent, especially within the millennial cohort, and this webinar delivers the strategies to help MSPs grow their business through employee retention.”
Gary Beach has held executive posts at McGraw-Hill’s Data Communications, the world’s first digital networking magazine and at International Data Group where he was publisher of Network World, Computerworld and CIO Magazine. He contributed technology commentaries to National Public Radio’s “All Things Considered” and “Morning Edition” programs and appeared regularly for a decade on CNBC’s “Squawk Box,” “Squawk on the Street” and “The Closing Bell” where he spoke about technology investment and acquisition trends.
